Short answer
Neither — this is no longer a choice you need to make. V2Ray and OpenConnect (AnyConnect) are both closed to new orders. The service we sell and support today is VilaNet (VilaX), which is used with the VilaNet client app.
If you are choosing a service today
- Order VilaNet (VilaX). It is the only service open to new orders.
- Use the VilaNet app. It is not available in the mainland China App Store, so on iOS you need an Apple ID registered outside mainland China.
- Official download channels: GitHub releases, Google Play and the App Store. If none of these channels open for you, please submit a support ticket.
For existing V2Ray or OpenConnect (AnyConnect) customers
- Your existing service keeps working, and you may keep renewing it. Only new orders are closed.
- AnyConnect is the client for an OpenConnect service only. If your account does not hold an OpenConnect service, AnyConnect does not apply to you.
- When you are ready to move to VilaNet (VilaX), read the section below first.
Switching from V2Ray to VilaNet (VilaX)
- VilaX requires the new VilaNet client app. Older legacy client apps were built for V2Ray and cannot connect to a VilaX service, because VilaX uses newer encryption protocols that those apps do not support.
- The new VilaNet app is backwards compatible: it also works with V2Ray service.
- If you have already switched to VilaX and cannot connect, either install the new VilaNet app, or switch the service back to V2Ray and continue with your old client.
