How to Add and Use a Subscription URL in v2rayN

How to Add and Use a Subscription URL in v2rayN (v2rayN 7.x)

This guide is for v2rayN 7.x and uses the Windows version (Windows 10 or later) as the example. Labels are from the v2rayN English interface.

New users: if you have not installed a client yet, we recommend the official VilaNet app. You sign in with your account and do not need to add a subscription by hand. v2rayN is for users who already prefer it.

Step 0: Copy your subscription link

1. Sign in to the VilaVPN client area and open your product details page.
2. Click Copy Link.
3. If the page shows an Activate Subscription button, click it first, then copy the link.

Important: your subscription link is the credential for your subscription. Do not send it to anyone or paste it into group chats or screenshots. If you think the link has leaked, click Reset Subscription URL on the product details page, then replace the link in v2rayN.

Step 1: Open v2rayN

Make sure v2rayN is installed and open. Download v2rayN only from its official GitHub release page: github.com/2dust/v2rayN/releases. On a 64-bit Windows PC, choose v2rayN-windows-64.zip, extract it, and run it.

Step 2: Open the subscription group settings

1. Click the Subscription Group menu at the top of the window.
2. Select Subscription group settings.

Step 3: Add the subscription link

1. In the Subscription group settings window, click Add.
2. In Remarks, enter a name that helps you tell subscriptions apart (for example: VilaVPN).
3. Paste the link you copied in Step 0 into URL (optional).
4. We recommend that you tick Enable update and enter a value in Automatic update interval (minutes) (for example 720, which is every 12 hours). Node changes then sync automatically.
5. Click Confirm to save, then click Close to exit the window.

Step 4: Update the subscription

1. Click the Subscription Group menu again.
2. The first time, select Update subscriptions without proxy.
3. Wait for the update to finish. The node list appears in the main window.

If a later update fails, connect to a node first, then select Update subscriptions with proxy.

Step 5: Select a node

1. In the node list of the main window, right-click the node you want to use.
2. Select Set as active.

Step 6: Start the proxy

1. Find the v2rayN icon in the system tray at the bottom right of the taskbar and right-click it.
2. Under System proxy, select Set system proxy.

Your browser and most apps now use the node you selected. When you do not need it, select Clear system proxy to go back to a direct connection.

Why can I not see AnyTLS nodes in v2rayN?

VilaVPN nodes use three protocols: Shadowsocks, Hysteria2 and AnyTLS. AnyTLS nodes are not included in the v2rayN subscription, so v2rayN shows only Shadowsocks and Hysteria2 nodes. This is normal. To use AnyTLS, use the official VilaNet app.

Common errors and fixes

v2rayN messageCommon causeFix
Failed to import subscription content, and the log shows Not ActiveThe service is not active (for example, it expired or is suspended)Check the service status in the client area. After you renew or restore it, update the subscription again
Failed to import subscription content, and the log shows Not ServiceThe link is wrong or was resetClick Copy Link on the product details page again and replace the old link in v2rayN
Failed to import subscription content, and the log shows neither Not Active nor Not ServiceThe subscription may need activationIf the product details page shows Activate Subscription, click it and update the subscription within 5 minutes
Invalid subscription contentNothing was downloadedTry again later. If you already have a working node, use Update subscriptions with proxy
No valid subscriptions setNo subscription group has been addedAdd the subscription as in Steps 2 and 3
Please do not use the insecure HTTP protocol subscription addressThe link starts with http://Use the https:// link from the product details page

A node is selected, but web pages do not open: usually the system proxy is not set, or another proxy or VPN app is running at the same time. Select Set system proxy again as in Step 6, quit other proxy apps, and try again.

If it still does not work, open a ticket with the full v2rayN error text and the v2rayN version. Do not send the full subscription link in the ticket.
