Official router software

VilaVPN publishes its own router software. You install the package, sign in with your VilaVPN account, and the whole LAN routes through VilaVPN — there is no subscription link to import.

Choose the guide for your router

• ASUS routers running Asuswrt-Merlin / Koolshare (recommended): install VilaNet for Merlin — https://merlin.vilavpn.com
• OpenWrt, iStoreOS or KWRT routers: install vilanet-openwrt — https://openwrt.vilavpn.com
• ASUS routers on stock firmware: flash compatible firmware such as Asuswrt-Merlin first, then follow the Merlin steps below.

Please note: flashing your router and installing third-party firmware or software may void the manufacturer's warranty and can brick or destabilise the device. Back up your router's original firmware and settings before you start.

Installing VilaNet for Merlin

VilaNet for Merlin installs as a single Koolshare rogsoft package. One universal HND build runs on every supported Asuswrt-Merlin router, including the RT-AC87U; the guide site's architecture picker also offers an explicit armv7 build (for example for the RT-AX86U PRO) and an armv5 build for older routers.

1. Software Center (online, recommended): open Software Center on the router, find VilaNet and click install.
2. Offline / manual install: download the package archive, then choose offline install in the Software Center — or extract it and run sh install.sh from the router shell.

Get the download from the guide site https://merlin.vilavpn.com, which builds the exact link and command for your router, or from the official releases page https://github.com/vilavpn/vilanet-merlin/releases.

Downloading from mainland China: GitHub can be slow or blocked. The guide site has a China-mirror picker that automatically adds a GitHub proxy prefix to the download URL. If the download still fails, open a support ticket and we will help.

After installing, open the Web UI (Software Center → VilaNet), sign in with your VilaVPN account, choose a server and connect.

For existing V2Ray customers (legacy setup)

V2Ray is closed to new orders — the store sells VilaNet only. Existing V2Ray services can still be renewed, and the legacy Fancyss router setup below remains valid for them. If you are setting up a router today, use the official VilaNet router software above.

1. Confirm your router can be flashed, and back up its original firmware and settings.
2. Download firmware compatible with your router model, such as Merlin firmware, and flash it following the firmware provider's instructions.
3. Install Fancyss (the "Science Online" plugin) following its own installation guide: https://hq450.github.io/fancyss/
4. Log in to your router's admin interface, open the Fancyss / "Science Online" settings page, and select V2Ray as the proxy type.
5. Copy the V2Ray subscription link from your VilaVPN account and paste it into the V2Ray configuration section to import your nodes.
6. Select the node you want, apply the setting to connect, then confirm it works by opening a site that is normally blocked.

The exact steps vary with router model and firmware version, so follow the official documentation from your device and software vendors. If something fails, check the Fancyss and V2Ray logs first.
