Short answer
It depends on the connection mode you use. In the VilaNet app on Windows you can choose TUN Mode, which carries the whole system's traffic through the VPN tunnel. In Proxy Mode only the applications that follow the Windows system proxy are routed through the VPN.
VilaNet on Windows: TUN Mode and Proxy Mode
Open Settings → Connection in the VilaNet app and choose the connection mode.
- TUN Mode — a full VPN tunnel. It requires administrator privileges. If the app reports “TUN mode requires administrator privileges”, click Elevate to restart the app with administrator rights, or switch to Proxy Mode.
- Proxy Mode — a system proxy, no administrator rights needed. Only traffic from applications that use the system proxy goes through the VPN.
If some applications still do not use the VPN in Proxy Mode, turn on Auto Configure System Proxy so that the Windows system proxy is set automatically while you are connected. Applications that ignore the system proxy have to be pointed at the local proxy manually, in their own settings.
If you want TUN Mode to be available automatically after a reboot, enable Launch at Login (Administrator), which starts VilaNet with administrator rights at boot.
For existing V2Ray customers
V2Ray is no longer accepting new subscribers — the store now sells the VilaNet service only. If you still hold a V2Ray subscription, its behaviour is unchanged:
- On mobile devices, all traffic goes through the proxy only while the client is using global proxy mode.
- On a PC, the V2Ray client only calls the system (IE) proxy settings, so only the browser and the applications set to “use system proxy” are routed through the proxy.
OpenConnect (AnyConnect) is likewise no longer accepting new subscribers, and the VilaNet service does not support AnyConnect — please use the VilaNet app instead.
So if what you need is for all network traffic to be carried by the VPN rather than only proxy-aware applications, that is what VilaNet's TUN Mode does.
